Condition

In order to ensure a smooth and transparent transaction process on HardwareSwap, the seller should take photographs that accurately depict the item's overall condition. This entails capturing images of various angles, including clear shots of any serial numbers or unique identifiers associated with the item. The primary objective is to establish tangible evidence of ownership and to create a visual record that attests to the item's condition prior to shipment. In the event of a dispute, you will have clear records of the exact condition of the hardware you sold.

By doing so, trust and confidence can increase between both parties involved in the transaction. Either party can refer back to the original timestamps, if required. Timestamps are a reliable reference point throughout the transaction process, which facilitates a smoother and more secure exchange.

Additionally, high-quality photos [of exactly what you have for sale] can attract potential buyers and increase your chances of making a sale.

Below is a good guideline which shows how to properly take timestamps (please refer to the next guide link for examples):

Camera/Environment:

  • Camera: A smartphone with a good camera will suffice.
  • Lighting: Natural light is usually the best, but you can also use lighting like lamps.
  • Clean [somewhat] background: Find a plain, neutral-colored backdrop that won't distract from your hardware(s).

Take multiple pictures:

  • Capture several photos, showcasing exactly the condition your item is in including all imperfections.
    • Ex. Any scratches, nicks, etc on a phone
  • Take photos of the Serial Number, if applicable, for personal records.

Description

While Timestamps are to protect both the seller and buyer by providing proof of ownership and current condition. It is still required to describe the condition of all items and all issues in the description. This includes any bent pins, blemishes, scratches, or if the item comes from a smoker's household (Or has smoke smell).
